As of 10 p.m. on 4 September (according to the Kyiv time zone), there have been 164 combat engagements on the front line over the past day. The enemy demonstrated the highest activity in five directions: Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Toretsk, according to the evening report from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Enemy shelling

Today, the enemy launched a missile strike on Ukrainian territory with 13 missiles, carried out 57 airstrikes (including 71 KABs), and deployed 334 kamikaze drones. Additionally, over 2,500 artillery shells hit Ukrainian military positions and settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked near Vovchansk once, with ongoing combat.

"Preliminary estimates indicate that the enemy's losses today amount to 57 soldiers killed and wounded. Our forces also destroyed two vehicles and 32 UAVs, as well as damaged four artillery systems and two vehicles," the report states.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance 15 times near Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova, Berestove, and Myasozharivka. Fourteen enemy attacks were repelled by defense forces. Fighting continues in the Lozova area.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 11 times in the areas of Druzhelyubivka, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Novosadove, Nevske, and Torske. Five engagements are still ongoing, while the rest were stopped by Ukrainian troops.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through the Ukrainian defenses twice during the day in the areas of Verkhniokamianske and Ivano-Darivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, enemy activity resulted in four combat engagements. Two attacks near Chasiv Yar and Kalynivka failed, while two engagements are ongoing. Russian troops are suffering losses.

In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 12 enemy attacks near Nelipivka, Toretsk, and New York. Eight attacks were repelled, and fighting continued in four locations. The situation remains under control.

Additionally, the enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses 49 times in the Pokrovsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, Russian troops received a strong repulse 47 times in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Selydove, Mykolaivka, and Myroliubivka. Two attacks are ongoing.

"The enemy is suffering significant losses — preliminary information indicates that today our troops eliminated over 200 Russian troops in this direction, 98 of whom are confirmed dead. Four enemy vehicles were destroyed, as well as four damaged, and one artillery system was destroyed," the General Staff reported.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 46 times, showing the highest activity in the areas of Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Krasnohorivka, where Ukrainian forces repelled 42 attacks. Four engagements are ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy attacks near Kostiantynivka and Vodiane — two attacks were stopped, and one is still ongoing.

The enemy unsuccessfully stormed Ukrainian positions twice in the Orikhiv direction near Robotyne and in the direction of Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy continues to attempt to drive Ukrainian units from their positions, with five unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian positions throughout the day.

Furthermore, for effective and professional combat work, the General Staff recognized the soldiers of the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade, which had effectively destroyed the enemy, inflicting irreparable losses in manpower and equipment.

For reference, during the night of September 3 to September 4, enemy losses totaled 1,390 soldiers. Since the beginning of the full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine, Russia has lost 620,350 military personnel.
