Since the beginning of the day on August 26, as of 22:00, there have been 148 combat engagements on the front lines. The situation remains challenging in the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy attempted 56 attacks, according to the evening update from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Over the past day, the enemy launched a missile strike using 127 missiles, conducted 59 airstrikes deploying 81 guided bombs, carried out 649 attacks with kamikaze drones, and fired nearly 3,200 times at Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements using various types of weaponry.

Frontline situation

The General Staff noted that the enemy, leveraging its superiority in manpower and equipment, is relentlessly attacking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, Ukrainian defenders are steadfastly holding back the Russian army and inflicting significant losses on them.

In particular, in the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army attacked near Vovchansk during the day. Defense Forces units successfully repelled the enemy's assault actions.

"According to preliminary information, since the beginning of the day, the enemy's losses amounted to 62 Russian soldiers killed and wounded, one tank, one armored fighting vehicle, two artillery systems, and three vehicles destroyed. Additionally, one tank, four artillery systems, and eight enemy vehicles were damaged," the report said.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 14 enemy attacks near Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Andriivka.

The Russian army launched 18 attacks in the Lyman direction, attempting to advance towards the settlements of Makiivka, Hrekivka, Druzelubivka, Nevske, Novosadove, and Torske. All enemy attacks were repelled.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy assault actions throughout the day near Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, and Vyimka. Ukrainian units are bravely holding their positions and lines, decisively repelling the Russian forces' attempts to advance, with fighting ongoing near Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, four attempts by the Russian army to advance near Chasiv Yar failed.

The situation in the Toretsk direction remains tense, with the enemy, supported by aviation, attempting to breach the Ukrainian defense 11 times today. The attack in the New York area is ongoing.

The situation remains difficult in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian units have repelled 56 enemy assaults and offensive actions since the start of the day in the areas of Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Panteleimonivka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Memryk, Mykhailivka, and Karlivka. Six clashes are still ongoing. Ukrainian forces are taking measures to hold their positions and inflict losses on the enemy.

"According to preliminary estimates, today the Russian forces have lost nearly two hundred soldiers killed and wounded. Additionally, Ukrainian servicemen have destroyed two artillery systems, two mortars, and three vehicles. One artillery system and four vehicles were also damaged," the General Staff reported.

In the Kurakhove direction, there have been 14 combat engagements so far today. The Russian army remains active, attempting to advance near the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka. Defense Forces units have repelled 12 enemy attacks, with four clashes still ongoing near Karlivka and Nevelske.

The situation is also intense in the Vremivka direction, where 20 combat engagements occurred towards Vodiane and Vuhledar. Four attacks are still underway near Prechystivka.

In the Prydniprovsk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces units repelled three enemy attempts to attack Ukrainian positions in the island zone, with no success for the enemy.

In other directions, enemy units did not conduct offensive actions.

Additionally, at the end of the report, the General Staff commended the soldiers of the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for steadfastly holding the lines and inflicting irreparable losses on the enemy.
