Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 25

As of August 25, Russians continue to attack their own settlements in the Kursk region of Russia. In particular, they are attacking with tanks, cannon artillery, and mortars, as well as dropping bombs, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
According to the General Staff, today in the border areas in the north of Ukraine, the areas of Starykove, Ulanove, Bachivsk, Khodyne, Fotovyzh, Holubivka, Slavgorod, Porozok, and Popivka were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire. In addition, the Russians bombed the areas of Svesa, Druzhba, Pervomayske, Stepanivka, Esman, Studenok, and Yastrubyne with almost 30 glide bombs.
Situation at the frontlines
As of 16:00 on August 25, 68 combat engagements were registered at the front since the beginning of the day.
In the Kharkiv direction, three hostile attacks took place near Lyptsi and Vovchansk, where fighting is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted seven attacks in the direction of Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Synkivka. Three combat engagements are ongoing.
Thirteen combat engagements started in the Lyman direction. The enemy stormed Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Proletarske, Pershotravneve, Novosadove, Torske and Nevske. The enemy was the most active near the latter, conducting five attacks, and the fighting is still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped five enemy assaults near Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the invading army was advancing toward Spirne, Chasiv Yar, and Andriivka. In total, there were six firefights, one of which is still ongoing. The Russians fired three times at Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar, launching about two dozen unguided missiles.
In the Toretsk direction, the invaders attacked four times, near Toretsk and Nelipivka. All attacks were repelled.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians carried out 17 assault actions in the vicinity of seven different settlements. 11 of these attacks took place near Kalynove and Novohrodivka. Moreover, the enemy used Ka-52 helicopters to carry out the attacks.
“Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the onslaught of Russian troops and repelled 13 attacks in total, four engagements are still ongoing. The enemy also dropped glide bombs in the areas of Oleksandropol and Halytsynivka," the statement said.
In the Kurakhove direction, the invaders attacked 10 times near Karlivka, Nevelske, Pervomayske, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy stormed Ukrainian positions near Vodiane three times. He received a fierce rebuff. Twice he attacked Vuhledar with multiple rocket launchers.
In the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi directions, the enemy, using aircraft, launched two air strikes on the areas of Zherebianky and Tokarivka. No assaults were conducted.
Over the past day, from August 24 to August 25, the Russian army's losses in the war against Ukraine amounted to 1190 soldiers. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 5 tanks, 11 armored personnel carriers, and 47 enemy artillery systems.
