Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 4

Since the beginning of the day, August 4, the total number of combat engagements at the front has increased to 70. In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy attempted to storm Ukrainian positions 16 times, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
The agency noted that Russian troops continue to use artillery on the territory of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. In particular, the areas of Sopych, Bachivsk, Chuykivka, and Prohres came under mortar and artillery fire today.
Situation at the frontlines
Seven combat engagements took place in the Kharkiv direction since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian troops prevented three Russian attacks near Lyptsi and three attacks near Vovchansk, Hlyboke, and Tykhe. Another attack is being repelled in the vicinity of Lyptsi.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made an unsuccessful attack near Berestove. Three more firefights are taking place in the areas of Kruhliakivka, Stelmakhivka and Petropavlivka. Russians dropped seven guided aerial bombs near Kruhlyakivka and Lozova.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked four times in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, and Terny. He received a fierce rebuff from Ukrainian soldiers.
In the Siversk direction, the Russians have already failed in five attempts to storm Ukrainian positions near Verkhnekamianske, Pereyizne, Spirne, and Vyimka. Moreover, fighting continues in two locations near the latter.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russians launched 10 attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions near Chasovyi Yar, Andriivka, Stupochky, Spirne, and Ivanivske. Seven combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy fired unguided aerial missiles from army aircraft at Hryhorivka.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, supported by attack and bomber aircraft, attacked Ukrainian positions eight times. At present, fighting continues near Niu York and Zalizne.
The situation is the hottest in the Pokrovsk direction. Fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Vesele, Svyrydonivka, Zhelanne, Novoselivka Persha, and Karlivka. So far, the enemy has made 16 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions. The enemy used aerial missiles and glide bombs in the areas near Oleksandropil, Vozdvyzhenka, Novohrodivka, and Hrodivka, carrying out a total of 10 airstrikes.
In the Kurakhove direction, seven enemy attacks were repelled near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Vremivka direction, two enemy attacks towards Rozdolne and Vodiane were stopped. At the same time, the invaders continue to try to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense in the direction of Kostiantynivka, where the battle is currently ongoing. In addition, one firefight near Vodiane is still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, three enemy attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces in the vicinity of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka. The occupants attacked with thirty multiple rocket launchers near Lobkove.
The situation in other sectors remains unchanged.
The enemy lost 1150 troops at the front yesterday. The total losses of Russia since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine amounted to 582,910 soldiers. In addition, over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 59 artillery systems, 17 armored personnel carriers, and 5 tanks.
