Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 3

Since the beginning of the day, August 3, as of 16:00, 76 combat engagements took place in the frontline. The situation remains the most tense in the Pokrovsk sector, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled 16 attacks and four more combat engagements are ongoing, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
The agency reported that the border settlements of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from shelling from the territory of Russia. In particular, today the areas of Karpovychi, Druzhba, Uralove, and Mykhalchyna Sloboda were hit by artillery and mortar fire. In addition, the Russians conducted two air strikes with five glide bombs on Loknia and Miropillia.
At the same time, the Kharkiv region is under constant bombardment by enemy aircraft. Since the beginning of the day, from the Russian cities of Belgorod and Shebekino, the Russians have launched two air strikes using three combat aircraft. The enemy targeted the areas of Izbytske and Lyptsi.
Situation at the frontlines
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy carried out three attacks near Hlyboke and Vovchansk, where one firefight is currently underway.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted offensive actions 11 times near Synkivka, Kolesnykivka, Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, Andriivka, Berestove and Stelmakhivka. Eight attacks were stopped, three are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Nevske and Terny five times. Four battles are over, one is ongoing.
"The occupants also bombed the territory of Serebryanske forestry with two glide bombs and launched 15 aerial missiles near Makiivka," the General Staff added.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy was advancing near Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Vyimka, and Ivano-Daryivka during the day. As a result of the clashes, it was defeated.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy carried out six assault operations near Vasyukivka, Chasiv Yar, and Andriivka. Defense forces repelled half of the attacks, three more are ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian troops increased the number of attacks to 14, attacking near Zalizne, Niu York, Toretsk, and Pivnichne. Eleven battles are over, three more are ongoing. In addition, the invaders conducted five air strikes on Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russians conducted assault operations in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novoselivka Persha, Zhelanne, Serhiivka, Panteleimonivka, Novooleksandrivka, Mezhove, Karlivka and Kalynove. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught of Russian troops and repelled 16 attacks, four firefights are ongoing. Enemy losses in this area are being clarified. The enemy also conducted five air strikes in the area of Hrodivka.
In the Kurakhove direction, the militants attacked four times near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, Heorhiivka and Paraskoviivka. Two battles are still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy stormed Ukrainian defenses three times near Vodiane, Kostiantynivka and Rozdolne. Two attacks were stopped, one is ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy was unsuccessful in attacking Ukrainian positions near Robotyne.
The situation in other areas of the front remains unchanged.
Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine amounted to 1170 soldiers over the past day. Also, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 56 artillery systems, 52 drones, and 27 armored personnel carriers.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that according to the American Institute for the Study of War, the Russian occupation army had reached an important highway near Vuhledar. In addition, the enemy wants to try to surround Ukrainian soldiers in the Niu York area.
