Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of July 31

Russians are exerting pressure in all areas of the frontline in Ukraine. On July 30, 144 combat engagements took place overnight, 48 of them in the Pokrovsk sector, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 48 Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk sector,” the report says.
The Russian occupiers attacked near the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Vesele, Serhiivka, Zhelanne, Yasnobrodivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Ivanivka, Tymofiivka and Kalynove, where the Russians tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions.
Other sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Russia continued offensive actions, with a total of six combat engagements. The fighting took place, in particular, near the settlements of Tykhe and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk sector, the number of combat engagements amounted to seven over the day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Pishchane and Stelmakhivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 18 Russian attacks in the vicinity of Makiivka, Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Serebryanske forestry.
In the Siversk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 Russian attacks near Verkhniokamianske, Pereizne, and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 12 Russian attempts to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses in the area of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region.
Russia tried 23 times to break into the Ukrainian defense in the Toretsk sector in the vicinity of Pivnichne, Toretsk, Nyzhyk, and Zalizne.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to hold back the Russians in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Paraskoviivka, where the Russians tried to break through Ukrainian defensive positions 16 times.
In the Vremivka sector, Russia conducted 5 unsuccessful attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense in the direction of Stepova Novosilka, Donetsk region.
In the Orikhiv sector, five combat engagements took place in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novoandriivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.
On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian troops maintain a military presence, conduct sabotage and reconnaissance activities, and shell settlements from the territory of Russia.
Russia's losses in Ukraine
Over the past day, July 30, Russia's losses amounted to 1,060 troops. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also neutralized nine tanks, 20 armored combat vehicles, 30 artillery systems, one MLRS, an air defense system, 21 operational and tactical UAVs, a cruise missile, 52 vehicles, and one unit of special equipment of the occupiers.
In addition, over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces conducted seven strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel and also destroyed an air defense system, three ammunition depots, and a logistics depot.
