Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 23
Since the beginning of the day, the Russians have attacked Ukrainian positions at the front 96 times. The enemy's losses in the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Pokrovsk sectors alone amounted to over 450 killed and wounded, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the situation in the Kupiansk direction is tense. There have already been nine combat engagements near five different localities. Fighting is still ongoing in two locations (near Synkivka and Stelmakhivka).
In the Lyman direction, three combat engagements took place in Serebryansky forest and near Makiivka. Four more enemy attacks have already been repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces today.
"Confirmed total enemy losses in the Kupiansk and Lyman sectors amounted to 167 killed and wounded. Several more invaders were taken prisoner. A tank, a cannon, an armored combat vehicle, four vehicles and 79 enemy drones were destroyed. Two artillery systems, three armored personnel carriers and two vehicles were damaged," the General Staff said.
In the Siversk direction in the afternoon, Russian militants dropped two aerial bombs in the areas of Serebryanka and Spirne.
The total number of enemy attempts to improve the tactical situation in the Kramatorsk direction increased to five. The attacks were repelled. The situation is under control.
In the Pokrovsk direction, nine firefights continue in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Sokol, Vozdvyzhenka and Yevhenivka. Another 29 attacks in the sector are over.
"The enemy is suffering losses in manpower: 137 irrecoverable casualties and 154 sanitary casualties. Moreover, about half a dozen Russian occupants surrendered. In addition, our soldiers destroyed three tanks and damaged the same number of tanks. General information on the damaged military equipment is being clarified," the General Staff said in a statement.
The total number of combat engagements in the Kurakhove direction increased to eight. Ukrainian troops managed to stop all enemy attacks. The Russians also fired from the Kurakhove thermal power plant, Kurakhove itself and Krasnohorivka, and from unguided aerial missiles near Kostiantynivka.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, five attempts by the Russian militants to force our military out of their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River were successfully repelled.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian military had been rigorously stopping Russian offensive attempts in the Pokrovsk sector.
