Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of June 23
Russian troops continue to try to advance on the frontline. The situation is the hottest at the Pokrovsk and Kupiansk directions, but the Ukrainian military is giving the enemy a decisive rebuff, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff's report, since the beginning of the day, the enemy has made 81 attempts to advance.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops have already attacked Ukrainian positions eight times. Five of these attacks are still ongoing - in the vicinity of Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Berestove, and Stepova Novoselivka. Ukrainian soldiers are effectively destroying the invaders.
In the Lyman direction, the total number of combat engagements in the sector amounts to six. Ukrainian soldiers continue to repel three enemy attacks near Makiivka and in Serebryansky forest. According to the General Staff, the situation there is under control.
In the Pokrovsk direction, 12 battles are taking place, in particular, in the areas of Oleksandropil, Novooleksandrivka, Yevhenivka, Vozdvyzhenka and Sokil. In total, the enemy has tried to improve the tactical situation in the sector 36 times. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy with fierce resistance.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to dislodge our troops in the area of Krynok on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The Russians also fired unguided aerial missiles there. In addition, the enemy dropped two bombs in the areas of Olhivka, Ivanivka and Burhunka.
"Ukrainian soldiers are keeping the enemy's actions under strict fire control. The command is taking the necessary measures to reinforce our units in the hottest areas," the General Staff said.
The Russian army has already lost more than 8,000 soldiers in a week.
The total losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine already amount to 534,360.
