Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 24

In Ukraine, on the front line, there have been 101 combat clashes during the day. The enemy intensified assault actions in four directions in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Overall, the enemy launched 5 missiles and 77 aviation strikes, as well as about 76 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launch systems on our troops' positions and civilian areas.
During the past day, the following populated areas were hit by aviation strikes:
- Hremiach, Chernihiv region;
- Bilohorivka, Luhansk region;
- Kupiansk, Hlushkivka, Kharkiv region;
- Ivanivka, Pivnichne, Ocheretyne, New York, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Semenivka, Selydove, Karlivka, Kostiantynivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Staromaiorske, Urozhaine, Krasnohorivka, and Pobieda, Donetsk region;
- Krynyky, Kherson region.
Over 120 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of our troops to threatened directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked our positions near the village of Berestove in the Kharkiv region five times.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 19 attacks in the areas of the villages of Hrekivka and Nevske in the Luhansk region and Terni and Yampolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 21 attacks in the areas of the villages of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Verkhniokamianske, Novyi, Spirne, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, tried to improve their tactical position.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 21 attacks in the areas of the villages of Novokalynove, Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to displace our units from their positions.
In the Novopavlivka direction, our military continues to hold back the enemy in the areas of the villages of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to break through our troops' defenses 24 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, attacked our defenders' positions five times in the areas of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy is determined to dislodge our units from bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro. During the day, with aviation support, they made 3 unsuccessful attacks on our troops' positions in the area of the village of Krynyky in the Kherson region.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the Defense Forces aviation struck 17 areas of personnel concentration and 1 enemy air defense missile system.
Missile troops units targeted 1 ground control station of UAVs, 1 area of armament and military equipment concentration, 2 areas of personnel concentration, 1 air defense system, and 3 other important enemy objects.
In the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces recently advanced near Chasiv Yar to the west of Bakhmut. However, there are reports of the Russian army advancing to the west and southwest of Donetsk.
During the night, the Russians struck a residential complex in Kharkiv with ballistic missiles, resulting in casualties.
