Forty-two combat engagements were registered in the frontline over the last day. Russians tried to improve their position in the Bakhmut direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian attacks

In total, the enemy launched 8 missile and 65 air strikes, fired 57 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas.

Situation at the frontlines

The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions has not changed significantly. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.

The enemy conducted air strikes near the village of Khlebohorob in Sumy region. More than 20 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Hremyach in Chernihiv region; Nova Huta, Volfyne, Loknya, Myropillya and Stepok in Sumy region.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions at the Kupiansk and Lyman directions. It carried out air strikes near the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Podoly in Kharkiv region; Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region; Novosadove in Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling damaged more than 10 localities, including Nevske in Luhansk region and Terny, Yampolivka, Torske in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled 6 attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Verkhnekamianske, Novyi, Chasiv Yar, New York, Klishchiivka in Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka and Novyi in Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 6 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Pervomayske and Netaylove in Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to force our units out of their positions.

He also carried out air strikes near the towns of Berdychi, Umanske, Semenivka and Yasnobrodivka in Donetsk Oblast. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Netaylove, Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops 11 times.

The enemy launched air strikes near the towns of Vodiane and Oleksandropil in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of our defenders 4 times near Staromayorske, Donetsk region. He carried out air strikes near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Chervone, Huliaipilske, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaki in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful attack on the positions of our troops near Krynky, Kherson region. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Bilozerka, Veletynske, Mykhailivka, Kizomys, Beryslav in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

Strikes against Russians

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 22 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment.

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the occupiers were tasked with capturing the town of Chasiv Yar by May 9.
