Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 12

In Ukraine, there have been 81 combat clashes on the front line over the past day. The aggressor's forces are attempting to break through on the Bakhmut and Novopavlivka directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
During the day, 81 combat clashes were recorded. Overall, the enemy conducted 2 missile strikes and 72 airstrikes, launching 116 shelling attacks from reactive volley fire systems on the positions of our troops and civilian areas. Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population.
Multi-story and private houses, as well as other infrastructure objects, have suffered destruction and damage.
Situation at frontlines
In the Volyn and Polissia direction, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no significant changes observed in the formation of enemy offensive groupings.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske direction, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells civilian settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Sumy city in the Sumy region; Lyptsi and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected more than 20 settlements, including Plyohiv, Yanzhulivka, Semenivka in the Chernihiv region; Vorozhba, Marchykhyna Buda, Yastrubyne in the Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Zemlianky in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions but delivered aviation strikes in the areas of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi and Kyrylivka in the Kharkiv region. Approximately 15 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions. More than 10 populated areas, including Makiivka, Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, and Zarichne in the Donetsk region, suffered from artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, our forces repelled 24 attacks in the areas of populated areas such as Bilihorivka in the Luhansk region; Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Viyivka, Rozdolivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, attempted to improve tactical positions. The enemy also carried out aviation strikes in the area of the populated place of Druzhba in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 16 attacks in the areas of populated areas such as Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Pervomaiske, and Netaylove in the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted to displace our units from occupied positions. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Netaylove in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continue to deter the enemy in the areas of populated areas such as Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, and Vodyane in the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted 19 times to breach our troops' defense. Over 10 populated areas, including Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, were under the enemy's artillery and mortar fire.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy, with aviation support, attacked our defenders' positions three times in the area of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Aviation strikes were carried out in the areas of populated places such as Vremiivka in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Approximately 20 populated areas, including Poltavka, Chervone, Bilohirya, Novodanilivka, and Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy is not giving up its intention to displace our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. During the day, it carried out five unsuccessful attacks on our troops' positions in the area of the populated place of Krynky in the Kherson region. Over 15 populated areas, including Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, and Ponyativka in the Kherson region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
Russian losses
During the day, the Defense Forces aviation struck 12 areas of concentration of personnel, armaments, military equipment, and 4 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems. Additionally, with the efforts of Ukraine's air defense forces, one guided aviation missile Kh-59 was destroyed.
Missile troops units inflicted damage on 2 air defense assets and 1 enemy electronic warfare station.
Night attack on Ukraine
On the night of April 12, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 17 unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed-131/136 type and a guided aviation missile Kh-59 from the airspace of the occupied Donetsk region.
Explosions were heard in the Khmelnytsky region. And near Kryvyi Rih, a fire broke out at a power facility due to debris falling.
