Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 28

Ukrainian troops repelled 27 Russian attacks in the Novopavlivka direction. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 14 attacks in the Avdiivka direction. The aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 10 areas where Russian occupants' personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
Over the past day, 60 combat engagements took place.
In total, Russia launched 11 missile and 77 air strikes, fired 141 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Many high-rise buildings, medical facilities, cars, a school, a kindergarten, and other civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged.
At night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine once again using a Shahed UAV. Data on this attack is being clarified.
Russian air strikes were carried out in:
- Veterynarne, Kharkiv, Synkivka, Kruglyakivka, Borova, Novoyehorivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka in Kharkiv region;
- Yampolivka, Novyi, Druzhba, Ivanivske, Berdychi, Novobakhmutivka, Ocheretyno, Semenivka, Tsukuryne, Novomykhailivka, Oleksandropil, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Velyka Novosilka, Staromaiorske in Donetsk region.
- More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under Russian artillery fire.
Situation at frontlines
The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissia direction.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske direction, the Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increase the density of minefields along the state border.
The Russians did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions in the Kupiansk direction.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled five Russian attacks near the settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terny in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 4 Russian attacks near Ivanivske and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian 14 attacks near Berdychi, Semenivka, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the Russians, supported by air power, tried to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian invaders near Novomykhailivka and Heorhiivka, where the enemy, supported by air power, tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 27 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russians, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 4 times near Staromayorske, Donetsk region; Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, Russians do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, over the past day, the enemy made an unsuccessful attack on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.
Russian losses
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck at 10 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment of the Russian occupiers.
Ukrainian missile troops struck 2 areas of concentration of personnel, 1 air defense facility, 1 electronic warfare station, 3 UAV control points, and 1 other important Russian object.
