Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 21

On the battlefield, there were 67 combat clashes, Ukrainian soldiers repelled attacks in the Terniv area of the Donetsk region and damaged two enemy air defense systems, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the day, 67 combat clashes were recorded. Overall, the enemy launched 36 missile and 50 aviation strikes, conducted 96 shelling attacks from reactive volley fire systems on our troops' positions and civilian settlements.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Multistory and private houses have been damaged and destroyed.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of enemy offensive groupings forming.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage-reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Vorozhba and Grytsenkove in the Sumy region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected more than 20 settlements, including Leonivka in the Chernihiv region; Chernatske, Baranivka, Sosnivka, Khodyne, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Iskryskivshchyna, and Katerynivka in Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, and Ambarne in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, attempted one unsuccessful assault on the positions of the Defense Forces near the settlement Synkivka in the Kharkiv region. Aviation strikes were carried out in the area of the settlement Nadiia in the Luhansk region.
More than 10 settlements, including Zapadne, Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and Kotliarivka in the Kharkiv region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 10 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terni, Spirne, Vesele, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, attempted to break through our troops' defense. Aviation strikes were carried out in the area of the settlement Novosadove in the Donetsk region.
More than 15 settlements, including Makiivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terni, Yamolivka, Torsk, and Serebrianka in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled 14 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, and New York in the Donetsk region.
Approximately 10 settlements, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements Berdychiv, Semenivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Novobakhmutivka and Orlivka in the Donetsk region.
Approximately 20 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of the settlements Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, attempted to break through our troops' defense 24 times. The enemy launched an aviation strike in the area of the settlement Kurakhove in the Donetsk region.
Approximately 20 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskeviivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Orihiv direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, attacked our troops' positions in the areas of the settlements Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region 6 times.
Approximately 15 settlements, including Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohirya, Novodanilivka, and Pyatyhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions during the day. The settlement Ivanivka in the Kherson region was shelled by artillery and mortar fire.
Enemy losses
During the day, the air forces of the Defense Forces struck 7 areas of concentration of personnel, armaments, and military equipment and 2 enemy anti-aircraft missile complexes.
The missile troops units inflicted damage on 1 artillery piece and 2 enemy air defense systems.
It should be noted that the total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 433,840 military personnel.
