Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 5

Ukrainian troops repelled 22 Russian attacks in the Novopavlivka direction, held their positions, and repelled the Russian occupation forces' assaults in the Kherson direction. Ukrainian missile troops hit 6 Russian artillery units, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
In total, Russians launched 5 missile and 66 air strikes, and fired 108 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other civilian infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.
Air strikes were carried out in:
- Chuikivka, Sumy region;
- Lyptsi, Varvarovka, Nesterne, Kolodiazne, Kyslivka, Mytrofanivka, Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region;
- Tverdokhlibove, Novoyehorivka, Bilohorivka, Luhansk region;
- Terny, Novoselivka, Verkhnokamianske, Kostiantynivka, New York, Druzhba, Pivnichne, Semenivka, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, Kalynove, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, Vodiane, Staromaiorske, Donetsk region;
- Novodarivka, Malynivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
Situation at frontlines
The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissya direction.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas and increase the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russians carried out 7 attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region, trying to improve its tactical position.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 4 Russian attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks near Andriivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 28 Russian attacks near Novoselivka, Berdychi, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russians in the areas of Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Prechystivka, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 22 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russians made one attack near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their positions. Despite significant losses, the Russians continue to try to drive Ukrainian units from their positions. Thus, over the past day, the enemy carried out 2 unsuccessful assault operations.
At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.
Russian losses
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 8 areas of concentration of personnel and 1 ground control station of the enemy's UAVs. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces also destroyed one Kh-59 guided missile.
The Ukrainian missile troops struck 3 areas of concentration of Russian personnel, 1 air defense system, and 6 enemy artillery pieces.
The total number of Russian army losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine is 417,950.
