Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 2

In Ukraine, 82 combat clashes took place at the front during the day. The invaders shelled a record number of settlements with artillery, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
In total, the enemy launched 9 missile and 100 air strikes, fired 161 shelling with reactive multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our forces and populated areas.
During the night, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine - using 17 Shahed type UAVs. With the efforts and means of Ukraine's air defense, 14 strike UAVs were destroyed.
Throughout the past day, settlements of Druzhba, Hlukhiv, Volfyne of the Sumy region; Okhrimivka, Vilkhuvatka, Khatne, Topoli, Kyslivka, Sadove of the Kharkiv region; Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Terny, Chasiv Yar, Druzhba, Novokalynove, Oleksandropil, Arkhangelske, Novooleksandrivka, Ocheretyne, Prohres, Novobakhmutivka, Toretsk, Katerynivka, Staromaiorske, Urozhaine of the Donetsk region and Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, and Robytne in the Zaporizhzhia came under aviation strikes.
Over 140 populated areas of the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.
Situation at frontlines
The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissya directions.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the Russians maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas and increase the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 Russian attacks near Terny, Yampolivka, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 8 Russian attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 24 Russian attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where Russians tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 29 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.
In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their positions and repel the attacks of the occupation forces. Despite significant losses, the enemy continues to try to drive our units from their positions. During the past day, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.
Russian losses
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 13 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.
Rocket forces units damaged 1 area of concentration of military equipment, 3 artillery means, 3 control points and 3 enemy ammunition depots.
