Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of February 8
Russians shelled more than 130 localities in Ukraine over the last day (facebook.com/Ministry of Defense of Ukraine)
In Ukraine, 92 combat engagements took place in the frontline over the last day. The enemy is actively storming Avdiivka and trying to capture several other settlements in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
In total, the enemy launched 51 missile and 80 air strikes, and fired 89 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, including children.
Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Lviv regions, were destroyed and damaged.
At night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine once again, using 17 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 11 attack UAVs.
Russian air strikes were carried out in Yablunivka, Sumy region; Tabaivka, Kharkiv region; Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Oleksandropil, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, Staromaiorske, Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region; Hornostaivka, Zmiivka, Tiahynka, Kherson region.
Over 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.
Frontline situation
The operational situation remains unchanged in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 9 enemy attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terny and Torske in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 8 Russian occupants' attacks near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the Russian invaders. Thus, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 27 attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, and Avdiivka and another 13 attacks near Nevelske and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region over the past day.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobeda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 22 attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled two enemy attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhya region.
In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to expand their bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy continues to try to drive our units from their positions. Thus, over the past day, the enemy carried out 4 unsuccessful assault operations.
Russian losses
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck 6 areas of concentration of Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment.
Missile units struck 3 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 ammunition depots of the enemy.
