Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of February 5

Russian shelling continues
The adversary persists in waging an aggressive war. Despite significant losses, they refuse to abandon plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignoring the laws and customs of war. They employ terror tactics, targeting both military and civilian objects.

The enemy actively utilizes aviation and FPV-type quadcopters, undertaking assault operations with the support of armored vehicles. The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex, with 105 armed clashes occurring within a day. Additionally, the enemy launched 7 missile strikes, conducted 25 aerial attacks, and carried out 52 shelling incidents using reactive multiple-launch rocket systems on our military positions and populated areas.

Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.

The situation on the fronts

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groupings. Identified units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts reconnaissance and sabotage activities, shell settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine.

Over 25 populated areas, including Hrynivka, Arkhipivka, the Chernihiv region, Seredyna-Buda, Tovstodubove, Vovkivka, Volfyne, Mohrytsia, Hrabovske, Ponomarenky, the Sumy region, Veterynarne, Nesterne, Komisarove, the Kharkiv region, have been shelled by artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled 8 attacks near Synkivka, the Kharkiv region, where the enemy attempted to break through the defense of our troops. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of the settlement of Stepova, Novoselivka, the Kharkiv region.

Approximately 15 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, and the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 15 attacks near Bilohorivka (Luhansk region) and Yampolivka, Terniv, Torskoe, Hryhorivka, the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, tried to break through the defense of our troops.

Approximately 15 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, the Luhansk region, and Torske, Serebrianka, Rozdolivka, the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 8 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klyshchivka, the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve its tactical position.

Over 10 populated areas, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 24 attacks in the area of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 14 attacks near Pervomaiske, Nevelske, the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, tried to break through the defense of our troops.

The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of the settlement of Lastochkyne, the Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas, including Oleksandrivka, Novobakhmutivka, Ocheretyne, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Netailove, the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy near Hryhorivka and Novomykhailivka, the Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers unsuccessfully attempted to improve their tactical position 24 times.

Populated areas such as Krasnohorivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. They carried out an aviation strike in the area of Staromaiorske, the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 2 attacks near Robotyne, the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops.

Artillery and mortar fire affected 20 populated areas, including Charivne, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, Lobkove, Piatykhatky, Stepnohirsk, the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, Kherson and Ochakiv, the Mykolaiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

Advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The enemy persists in its intention to eliminate our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

During the past day, two unsuccessful attempts were made to storm the positions of our forces.

Enemy losses: Throughout the day, missile forces units targeted one area of personnel concentration, two command points, and two ammunition depots of the enemy.

The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 389,560 military personnel.
