Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 31

The adversary continues to disregard the laws and customs of war, utilizing terrorist tactics, striking both military and civilian objects. The enemy actively employs aviation and FPV-type quadcopters, carrying out assault actions with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex. Over the past day, there have been 52 armed clashes. Additionally, the enemy delivered 7 missile and 65 aviation strikes, conducted 59 shelling incidents with rocket artillery on the positions of our troops and residential areas.

Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are civilian casualties. Residential private and multi-story buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, have suffered destruction and damage.

Frontline situation

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged without significant alterations. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Identified units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage-reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.

The enemy delivered aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Ulytsia and Seredyna-Buda in the Sumy region. Over 40 settlements, including Hremiach and Klyusy in the Chernihiv region, Velyka Pysarivka, Basyvka, Seredyna-Buda, Popivka in the Sumy region, Okip, Lukiantsi, Hatysche, and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, were shelled with artillery and mortars.

In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled 7 attacks near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, attempted to break through the defense of our troops. The occupiers also carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region and Nadiia in the Luhansk region.

Approximately 15 settlements, including Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotlyarivka, and Pishchane in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 9 attacks near Terniv, Yampolivka, and Torskoie in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defense of our troops.

The enemy delivered aviation strikes in the areas of Bilohorivka and Serebrianka Forestry in the Luhansk region. Approximately 15 settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Yampolivka, Terni, Zarichne in the Donetsk region, were shelled with artillery and mortars.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 4 attacks near Ivanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position.

The enemy delivered an aviation strike in the area of New York in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, Ivanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 8 attacks in the area of Avdiivka and another 6 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops. The enemy also delivered aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Oleksandropil and Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region.

Approximately 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Stepove, Avdiivka, Lastochkyne, and Severne in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the area of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully attempted to improve their tactical position 6 times. Under artillery and mortar fire were Heorgiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. Aviation strikes were delivered in the areas of the settlements Vodiane, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region.

Approximately 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 4 attacks of the enemy north of Priutne and Robitne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy delivered aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Bilohirya and Robitne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Approximately 20 settlements, including Malynivka, Chervone, Bilohirya, Robitne, Malatokmachka, and Pyatyhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the zone of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the enemy's artillery shelling targeted the regional center of the Kherson region and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region.

Occupiers delivered aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements Krymky, Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Shliakhove, and Chervonyi Maiak in the Kherson region.

Advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The enemy persists in its intention to dislodge Ukrainian units from bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro.

Over the past day, three unsuccessful attempts were made to storm the positions of our troops.

Enemy losses

Throughout the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck in 14 areas of concentration of personnel, armaments, military equipment, and one anti-aircraft missile system of the enemy.

Also, using air defense means, Ukraine destroyed one guided aviation missile Kh-59.

Rocket forces delivered strikes on 5 artillery systems and 4 air defense systems of the enemy.

The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 385,230 military personnel.
