Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 19

In Ukraine, there were 127 combat clashes on the frontlines within a day. The aggressor's forces persist in their attempts to encircle and capture Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
In total, the enemy conducted 2 missile and 81 aviation strikes, carrying out 45 rocket artillery bombardments on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties among the civilian population. Private and multi-story residential buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, have suffered destruction and damage.
The aviation strikes affected Vovchansk, Mykolaivka, Holubivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region; Serebrianske Forestry Area, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Bohdanivka, Avdiivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Vodiane in the Donetsk region; Robotyne, Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 110 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, actively engages in sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of our forces to critical directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 enemy attacks near the populated areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 15 enemy attacks near Terniv and Yampolivka in the Donetsk region and another 8 attacks in the Serebrianske Forestry Area and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our forces repelled 2 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who persistently attempt to encircle Avdiivka. Our forces hold the defense steadfastly, inflicting significant losses on the aggressors. During the past day, the Defense Forces repelled 27 enemy attacks in Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, and Avdiivka, and another 17 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, defenders continue to restrain the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 15 attacks were repelled.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, our defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks west of Staromaiorske and south of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 5 enemy attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
On the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue efforts to expand the foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy persists in attempts to dislodge our units from the occupied positions. Over the past day, the enemy launched 11 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of our forces.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the Defense Forces' aviation conducted strikes on 5 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
Missile troops units inflicted damage on 1 area of concentration of enemy personnel and 2 command points.
