Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 15

The enemy is not abandoning its intention to eliminate Ukrainian Armed Forces units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
Russian attacks
The enemy continues to disregard the laws and customs of war, employing terror tactics, targeting both military and civilian objects. The adversary actively employs aviation and FPV-type quadcopters, conducting assault actions with armored support.
Frontline situation
During the day, 86 skirmishes occurred. The enemy delivered a total of 1 missile and 31 aviation strikes, along with 51 artillery shellings from rocket artillery systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have suffered damage and destruction.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged without significant changes. No signs of offensive group formation were detected. Identified units of the Belarusian Armed Forces perform tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an aviation strike in the vicinity of the settlement Vesele in the Kharkiv region. Over 30 populated areas, including Leonivka, Hremiach, the Chernihiv region; Atynske, Basivka, Zapsillia, Stepok, Hrabovske, Oleksandrivka in the Sumy region; Huryiv Kozachok, Kozacha Lopan, Ohrimivka in the Kharkiv region, were shelled by artillery and mortars.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 2 attacks near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to improve its tactical position. About 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks near Ternivka, Yampolivka, Torske in the Donetsk region, and another 18 attacks in the areas of Serebriansk forestry, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops. Over 15 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the areas of Ivanivka, Klyshchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy delivered an aviation strike near Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 populated areas, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, New York in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and another 15 attacks in the areas of Siverske, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Here, the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to improve its tactical position. Additionally, the enemy delivered an aviation strike near the settlement Oleksandropil in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Oleksandropil, Novokalynove, Semenivka, Lastochkyne, Karlivka, Nevelske in the Donetsk region, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. In this direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, made 11 unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of our troops. The towns of Hostre, Kurakhove, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka were under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. They delivered an aviation strike in the area of the settlement Vodiane in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Vremivka, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repelled 2 attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost ground. The enemy delivered an aviation strike in the area of the settlement Novodarivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 populated areas, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Huliaipole, Charyvne, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka in the Zaporizhzhia region, were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.
In the Kherson direction, the regional center of the Kherson region and the areas of populated areas Beryslav, Tomaryne, Ivanivka, Mykolaivka, Stanislav in the Kherson region and Dniprovske, Solonchaky in the Mykolaiv region, were subjected to artillery shelling by the enemy.
Enemy losses
The enemy remains committed to dislodging our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro. Over the past day, the adversary attempted one unsuccessful assault on our positions.
During the day, the Defense Forces aviation conducted strikes on 22 areas of concentration of personnel, weaponry, military equipment, and one air defense missile system of the enemy.
Units of the missile troops inflicted damage on the area of concentration of personnel, destroying 3 artillery systems and 2 radar stations of the enemy.
