Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 30
Russian occupiers are attempting to dislodge Ukrainian units from bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. However, their efforts are useless, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
The enemy actively deploys operational-tactical aviation and FPV quadcopters, conducts assault operations with armored support, and increases the number of air strikes.
In the last 24 hours, there have been 49 combat clashes. In total, the enemy delivered three missile strikes and 36 airstrikes, along with 31 rocket attacks using multiple rocket launcher systems on the positions of Ukrainian forces and civilian settlements.
Once again, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine, employing guided missiles Kh-59 on the cities of Dnipro and Odesa and an Iskander missile on Zaporizhzhia. A Kh-59 guided missile was successfully intercepted and destroyed by anti-aircraft defense forces.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential and apartment buildings, hospitals, and other civilian and industrial infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The situation at the frontlines
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged. There are no significant changes in the signs of the formation of offensive groups. Identified units of the armed forces of Belarus are carrying out tasks in the border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary conducted aviation strikes in the areas of the settlements of Arkhipivka in the Chernihiv region and Tovstodubove in the Sumy region.
Over 40 settlements, including Liskivshchyna, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Hremiach in the Chernihiv region; Fotovyzh, Volfyne, Oleksandrivka in the Sumy region; Bochkove, Krasne Pershe in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region. The adversary also conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Pishchane, the Kharkiv region, and Novoselivka, Stelmakhivka, Nadiia, the Luhansk region. Approximately 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled two enemy attacks near Makiivka, the Luhansk region. Occupiers conducted an aviation strike in the area of Bilohorivka, the Luhansk region. Over 10 settlements, including Nevseke in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebrianka, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled 9 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the adversary attempted to regain lost ground. Over 10 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Stupochky in the Donetsk region, were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove and Avdiivka, and another 13 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Here, the enemy, with aviation support, unsuccessfully attempted to improve their tactical position. Approximately 10 settlements, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the adversary, with aviation support, carried out 7 unsuccessful attacks. Occupied by enemy artillery and mortar fire were Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Pobeda, Yelyzavetivka, and Katerynivka.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Pryiutne, the Zaporizhzhia region. Approximately 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack east of the settlement of Kopani in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 25 settlements, including Poltavka, Luhivske, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Kamianske, and Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the area of responsibility of the Operational and strategic grouping of troops Odesa in the Kherson direction, the enemy conducted artillery shelling on Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Antonivka, and Kherson in the Kherson region. Additionally, the adversary carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Tyahynka and Kherson
Ukrainian counteoffenisve
The occupiers do not abandon the intention to eliminate our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro. During the day, the enemy conducted 11 unsuccessful assault actions, but our units continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the occupiers.
Enemy losses
During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 11 enemy personnel concentration areas. Missile forces units hit three anti-aircraft missile complexes, the area of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, seven artillery pieces, and three enemy radio-electronic warfare stations.
