Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 31

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol and Bakhmut fronts. During the past day, there were 59 combat clashes, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
In total, the enemy launched 7 rockets and 65 aviation strikes and conducted 31 shelling incidents from multiple launch rocket systems against our troops' positions and civilian settlements.
Furthermore, today, Russian occupiers inflicted another strike on Ukraine by employing 4 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles targeting civilian infrastructure. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure were damaged and destroyed. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population.
Situation on the fronts
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex.
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the enemy forming offensive groupings. Identified units of the Belarusian armed forces are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts subversive and reconnaissance activities, fires on populated areas from Russian territory, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border. More than 30 populated areas, including Hremiach, Karpovychi, and Bleshnia in the Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Obody, Pokrovka, Popivka in the Sumy region; Udy, Veterynarne, Hatyshe in the Kharkiv region, were shelled by the enemy's artillery and mortars.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions near Synkivka, Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region and Nadiia in the Luhansk region. Our forces repelled more than 10 attacks in this area. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Pishchany, Novoserhiivka, and Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region. Around 15 populated areas, including Kamyanka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Stepova in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Lyman front, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. They launched airstrikes in the areas of Serebrianske Forestry, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne in the Donetsk region. Additionally, more than 15 populated areas were shelled by the enemy's artillery and mortars, including Makivka, Nevseke, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Yampilivka, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
On the Bakhmut front, the occupiers unsuccessfully attempted to restore the lost positions near Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. At the same time, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the area of the southern Donetsk region. Over 25 populated areas, including Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Druzhba in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Avdiivka front, with the support of aviation, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of the populated areas of Avdiivka, Keramik, Severne, Pervomaiske, and Stepove in the Donetsk region. In total, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 15 attacks by the invaders on this front. The enemy also carried out an aviation strike near Lastochkine in the Donetsk region. Almost 20 populated areas, including Oleksandrivka, Keramik, Berdychiv, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne in the Donetsk region, were shelled by the enemy's artillery and mortars.
On the Maryinka front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where our troops repelled nearly 20 attacks. Additionally, the enemy carried out an airstrike near Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Under enemy artillery and mortar fire were nearly 10 populated areas in the Donetsk region, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Antonivka.
On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Prechystivka and Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region. Nearly 10 populated areas, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region, were shelled by the enemy's artillery and mortars.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost positions in the area of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Malynivka, Poltavka, Huliaipole, Novodanilivka, and Piatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Kherson front, the occupiers conducted airstrikes in the areas of Mikylske, Ivanivka, Kozatske, Sadove, Tyahynka, Lvove in the Kherson region. Enemy artillery shelling affected Kherson, Veletenske, Poniativka in the Kherson region, and Dmytrivka, Yaselka in the Mykolaiv region.
Counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their counteroffensive operation on the Melitopol front and offensive actions on the Bakhmut front. They inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment and exhaust the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
During the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation conducted 14 strikes on areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment. They also launched 2 strikes on the enemy's air defense missile complexes and 1 strike on a command post. In addition, Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed 2 enemy combat UAVs.
Units of the missile forces damaged 3 radar stations, 8 artillery systems, and the area with the concentration of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
