Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 12
The Ukrainian military is maintaining defense in the east, repelling enemy attacks, including in the Avdiivka direction. Meanwhile, the Russians attempted to regain lost positions in the area of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past day, there were 55 combat clashes. The Russians launched 2 rocket strikes and 55 airstrikes, conducted over 20 artillery shellings with multiple rocket launchers against the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements. Private residential homes and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed as a result.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no significant signs of the enemy forming offensive groups. Belarusian Armed Forces units are identified in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the occupiers maintain a military presence in border areas, continue shelling settlements from Russian territory, and increase the density of mine-explosive barriers along Ukraine's state border. The aggressors conducted aviation strikes near Popivka and Seredyna-Buda in the Sumy region. Approximately 20 settlements suffered artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks in the Synkivka area and 8 attacks near Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. Over 15 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the Russians launched aviation strikes in the areas of Nevske, Bilohorivka, Novoliubivka, and Serebrianske Forest in the Luhansk region and Spirne, Vesele, Siversk in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the Makiivka area in the Luhansk region and in the area of Serebrianske Forest in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, the occupiers conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian forces are bravely holding their defensive positions. They repelled 7 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka area and another 7 attacks near Lastochkyne, Tonenke, Peromaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Novokalynove, Keramik, Stepove, and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 settlements suffered artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled about 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Maryinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russians launched aviation strikes near Novomykhailivka and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the occupiers unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions in the area of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy conducted aviation strikes near Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Approximately 20 settlements suffered artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, Antonivka, Kherson, Bilozerka in the Kherson region, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction and offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction. They inflict losses on occupation forces in personnel and equipment, wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
Russian losses
Over the past day, the Ukrainian forces' aviation conducted 12 strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel, weaponry, and military equipment are concentrated, as well as 2 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Rocket forces units struck the enemy's command post and 9 artillery units.
