Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 4

Ukrainian forces are making progress in their offensive operations in the vicinity of Robotyne on the Melitopol direction and in the areas of Klishchiivka and Andriivka on the Bakhmut direction. There have been 43 combat clashes reported over the past 24 hours, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy attacks
In total, the enemy launched 5 rocket and 108 aviation strikes, conducted 55 shelling attacks using multiple rocket launchers, targeting both Ukrainian military positions and civilian objects within Ukraine. Russia also launched another attack on Ukraine, utilizing the Iskander-K guided missile and 31 strike drones of the Shahed-136/131 type.
Ukrainian air defense systems have successfully intercepted 1 Iskander-K guided missile and 29 enemy Shahed drones. Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population as a result of Russian terrorist attacks. Private residential homes and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered destruction and damage.
Aerial strikes were reported in Petropavlivka, Senkove, Synkivka in the Kharkiv region; Novoselivka in the Luhansk region; Nove, Kolodiazi, Ivanivka, Yamplivka, Stavky, Vesele, Spirne, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Chasiv Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Katerynivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Vodyane, Urozhayne, Shakhtarske in the Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Robotyne, Staromayorske in the Zaporizhzhia region; Mykolayivka, Antonivka, Olhivka in the Kherson region.
Over 120 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions were subjected to Russian artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the Ukrainian Operational Command (OC) North on the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas and conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of Ukrainian forces to vulnerable areas, increasing the density of mine and explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the OC Khortytsia on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive actions.
On the Lyman direction, the defense forces repelled more than 10 enemy attacks in the vicinity of the town of Makiivka in the Luhansk region.
On the Bakhmut direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions in the area of Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The defense forces continue their offensive actions south of Bahmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment and consolidating their gained positions.
In the area of responsibility of the OC Tavria on the Avdiivka direction, the defense forces repelled all enemy attacks in the area of Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted more than 10 failed attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region.
On the Shakhtarske and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy did not engage in offensive actions.
Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol direction, achieving partial success west of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, engaging in offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction, achieving partial success in the areas of Klishchiivka and Andriivka, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions.
In the area of responsibility of the OC Odesa on the Kherson direction, the defense forces continue to conduct counter-battery warfare, destroying depots and successfully striking the rear of the enemy.
Ukraine's advance
Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to defend the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, conduct an offensive operation on the Melitopol direction, and engage in offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction, gradually liberating temporarily occupied territories and consolidating their positions.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the defense forces' aviation delivered 14 strikes on areas with concentrations of Russian personnel, equipment, and vehicles, and 6 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Ukrainian missile troops inflicted damage to 3 areas with concentrations of Russian personnel, equipment, vehicles, and 21 artillery systems.
