Russia-Ukraine war: frontline update as of August 3

Over the past 24 hours, there were 44 combat engagements on the frontlines. The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and carrying out counter-battery measures, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks

During the day August 2, the russian federation launched an attack with Iranian Shahed combat UAVs. Ukrainian air defense intercepted 23x attack UAVs.
The enemy launched 5x missile, 89x air strikes, and 67x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, there were civilian casualties.
The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains very high.
Frontline Situation
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanskу fronts, the adversary launched aviation strikes in the areas of Volfinoho and Stepne in Sumy Oblast, and Kozachya Lopan in Kharkiv Oblast. They also carried out artillery and mortar shelling on more than 25 settlements, including Senkivka, Karpovychi, Novovasylivka in Chernihiv Oblast; Volfine, Krasnopillia, Rozhkovychi, Stara Huta, Hrabovske in Sumy Oblast, and Tymofiivka, Veterynarne, Okhrimivka, Petro Pavlivka in Kharkiv Oblast.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Kyslivka. Their artillery and mortar shelling targeted Kamianka, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Novomyrnsk, Fiholivka, Kindrashivka, Krasne Pershe, and Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast.
On the Lyman front, the adversary launched aviation strikes in the areas of Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Serebrianka and Spivne in Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling affected the settlements of Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Verkhniokamianske, Spivne, and Torske in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Bakhmut front, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions west of Kurdiumivka, south of Andriivka, and west of Klishchiivka in Donetsk Oblast. Occupants launched aviation strikes in the areas of Fedorivka, Maikove, Druzhba, and New York. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Vasukiwka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bila Hora, Chasiv Yar, and Ivanivske in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Avdiivka front, the enemy launched aviation strikes in the area of Avdiivka. Artillery shelling targeted Novokalynove, Stepove, Berdychiv, Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Maryinka front, the defense forces continue to contain the Russian forces' advance in the area of Mariinka. The enemy conducted shelling on the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Oleksandrivka, Hostre, Mariinka, Paraskevivka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of Staramaiorsk and Makarivka. They made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions west of Staramaiorsk and north of Urozhaivne. More than 15 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Vuhledar, Vodiane, Blahodatne, Storozheve, Rivnopil, and Zelene Pole in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts to prevent further advancement of our forces. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of Huliaipole, Malotokmatske, Novodanilivka, and Piatyhatky in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. More than 15 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Novodarivka, Bilohiria, Huliaipole, Zaliznychnoe, Piatyhatky, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
On the Kherson front, the enemy launched aviation strikes in the areas of Odradokamianka and Antonivka. More than 20 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, including Vesele, Dudchany, Dniprovske, Tiahynka, Lvove, Kizomys, and the city of Kherson.
Enemy losses
The defense aviation forces conducted 9 strikes in the past 24 hours, targeting areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, equipment, and military machinery, and 3 strikes on the adversary's anti-aircraft missile systems. Additionally, Ukrainian forces managed to destroy 9 tactical reconnaissance UAVs.
Missile and artillery units hit 21 enemy artillery positions, 1 radar station, 3 command posts, 1 area with concentrations of enemy equipment and military machinery, 2 anti-aircraft defense units, 1 area with concentrations of enemy personnel, and 2 enemy ammunition depots.
