Russia trying to break through front line in Siversk direction and shelling border area - General Staff

According to the General Staff, as of 5:00 PM, the number of combat engagements has risen to 64. The most intense fighting is occurring in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions.

The Chernihiv and Sumy regions are under enemy fire. The aggressor has carried out strikes on the areas around the settlements of Sopych, Popivka, Taratutyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Pozhnya, and Karpovychi.

Situation in directions

• Kharkiv direction: There has been one engagement near Vovchansk.

• Kupiansk direction: Russian forces attempted to storm our positions near Stelmakhivka, Berestove, and Petropavlivka four times. Three enemy attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenders, and fighting is ongoing.

• Lyman direction: The enemy attacked in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, and Terny. Since the beginning of the day, there have been five engagements in this direction.

• Siversk direction: The adversary continues attempts to breach our defenses near Verkhniokamianske, Ivano-Dariivka, Pereizne, and Viyimka, where they launched seven assault actions. Five of these were repelled by our defenders, and fighting is ongoing.

• Kramatorsk direction: Since the start of the day, Russian troops have attempted to push our units from their positions four times. Ukrainian forces repelled two assaults near Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske. Two more attacks are currently underway.

• Toretsk direction: The enemy, supported by bomber aircraft, has attacked our positions 15 times. Currently, seven engagements are ongoing near Toretsk and New York. Today, the enemy has dropped ten guided aerial bombs on Toretsk.

• Pokrovsk direction: The situation remains tense. Intense battles are ongoing in the areas of Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Ivanivka, Zhelanne, Novoselivka Persha, Karlivka, and Yasnobrodivka. The enemy has made 21 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions. Fighting continues in ten locations.

• Kurakhove direction: Since the beginning of the day, the invaders have attacked our units twice, attempting to advance near the settlements of Heorhiivka and Kostyantynivka.

• Vremivka direction: Two enemy assault actions towards Vodiane and Rozdolne have been repelled. In the area of Robotyne, the enemy attempted to advance once but faced a strong resistance. The enemy also used aviation against the areas of Zaliznychne and Novoandriivka.

• Prydniprovskyi direction: The aggressor made two unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian positions.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that as of the morning of August 5, Russia had lost over 584,000 personnel. Additionally, 1,180 more soldiers were eliminated in the past day.
