The Russian army attempted to recapture the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian military continues to hold the line, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the President, today he had a conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. The Chief of the Armed Forces reported on all frontline areas and the Kursk operation.

“Regarding the Kursk operation: there were attempts by Russia to push back our positions, but we are holding the defined lines,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

In addition, the Head of State praised the military holding the defense in the Pokrovsk direction.

“In general, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions are in very difficult conditions, there are tough enemy actions. But the resilience of our units is crucial. Everything depends on our resilience,” he added.

Kursk operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In early September, Ukrainian troops entered the Kursk region and took control of Sudzha and a number of other Russian settlements. The Ukrainian Armed Forces controlled about a thousand square kilometers of Russian territory, and fighting is still ongoing.

The Russian leader demanded that the Russian army return the lost territories by October, but the militants did not meet the deadline. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had recently partially regained their lost positions in the Kursk region, but the Russians immediately launched new assaults.

Ukrainian paratroopers defeated an assault group of the Russian 155th Marine Brigade. This brigade is known for its soldiers torturing and killing Ukrainian prisoners of war.
