Russia tricks people into frontline service with fake power station

Fake job listings for the so-called Luhansk Power Station, which does not exist in reality, are spreading across Russian online employment platforms. People are lured with promises of high pay and safe work, but in practice are sent to the front, according to a post by Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation on Telegram.
Russia is using deceptive recruitment methods to replenish its forces in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Online advertisements seeking security guards for a non-existent power station are being circulated and targeted at the broadest possible audience.
Fake vacancies and promises
The listings claim the jobs are suitable for students, pensioners, people over 45, and even individuals with health issues.
Standard contract-service conditions are offered: a high monthly salary and large one-time payments. At the same time, the position is presented as civilian work, creating the illusion of safe employment.
Real purpose of the recruitment
During communication with the employers, it becomes clear that this involves contract military service with possible deployment wherever the state orders, including combat zones and occupied territories. References to the classified nature of the facility and internal instructions are used to conceal the true conditions of service.
This case demonstrates blatant fraud in Russian recruitment schemes aimed at continuing the war against Ukraine. The use of the term power station creates the illusion of peaceful work at a strategic facility, while in reality, people are sent to the front lines, exposing them to real danger.
Russia has launched yet another disinformation campaign aimed at shifting responsibility for its own crimes in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, onto Ukraine.
According to Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, a Russian propaganda structure calling itself the International Public Tribunal has circulated another pseudo-report containing accusations of alleged genocide and crimes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city.
