Russia threatens mirror response to US nuclear tests
The Kremlin issued a new wave of nuclear threats toward the US, claiming that Washington is awaiting a "mirror response" in the event of nuclear tests, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and TASS.
According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, if the United States takes steps to resume nuclear testing, Russia will not hesitate to respond in kind.
"If processes begin that indicate the US is moving toward resuming nuclear tests, we won’t hesitate. Russia will respond immediately and mirror those actions," Ryabkov stated.
Nuclear threats from Russia
Russia continuously threatens the use of nuclear weapons, particularly against Western countries and the US. Recently, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin proposed changes to state policy regarding the conditions for using nuclear weapons. The updated version of the doctrine suggests making "a number of clarifications" concerning the conditions under which nuclear weapons may be employed.
In turn, the European Union has sharply criticized Putin's new nuclear threats, which allow for a nuclear response to massive air attacks on Russia.
Analyzing this new wave of nuclear threats from Moscow, Time recently reported that Western leaders have stopped fearing Russia's nuclear threats and are increasingly vocal in their support for continued assistance to Ukraine.
