Russia strikes Zaporizhzhia with ballistic missiles: Killed and injured reported
On the night of January 23, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia with ballistic missiles. The attack left one killed and one injured, according to the head of Zaporizhzhia Military Regional Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
According to media reports, the first explosion in Zaporizhzhia was heard around 4:02 a.m. Kyiv time. Later, Fedorov confirmed the Russian attack.
“Russia is hitting the city again. At least 4 explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia. Preliminary, there are victims. An alarm has been announced throughout the region. Do not neglect safety rules,” the message read at 4:19 a.m. Kyiv time.
A few minutes later, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration clarified that there was preliminary information about people under the rubble. In this regard, emergency services began to arrive at the scene to help.
A short time later, Fedorov informed that the victims included the State Emergency Service employees.
“Among the victims are 4 employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. They were taken to the hospital. Doctors are providing all the necessary assistance,” the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration wrote at 04:36 a.m. Kyiv time.
As of 4:50 a.m. Kyiv time, according to preliminary data, 10 people were injured in the Russian attack.

“Russian strike damaged residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia. The blast wave smashed out windows and damaged the roof,” said Fedorov.
As of 5:07 a.m. Kyiv time, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that the number of injured in Zaporizhzhia has increased to 16 people.
“5 people are in severe condition. Those injured as a result of Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia are receiving all the necessary medical assistance,” the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration informed at 5:32 a.m. Kyiv time.
The condition of 5 more people is assessed as moderate. Among them are two employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“The rest of them will be treated on an outpatient basis after the doctors' help,” added Ivan Fedorov.
As of 5:38 a.m. Kyiv time, according to Fedorov, a two-month-old baby was among the injured in Zaporizhzhia. She has been taken to the hospital.
At 6:25 a.m. Kyiv time, one person died as a result of the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia - a 47-year-old man. In addition, according to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, 16 people were wounded, including a two-month-old baby.
“In Zaporizhzhia, the number of victims has increased to 24 people. Medics are providing prompt assistance,” the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported at 7:34 a.m. Kyiv time.
Starting from 3:56 a.m. Kyiv time, an alarm began to spread in Kyiv and many other regions of Ukraine. According to Ivan Fedorov, it was caused by the threat of Russian ballistic weapons.
