Russia strikes Ukraine with 31 drones overnight: Air defense's work reported
On the night of December 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 31 drones. Ukrainian air defense destroyed 20 of them, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia struck Ukraine with Shahed drones and other types of drones. They were launched from the Russian cities of Bryansk and Orel.
The following forces were involved in repelling the attack:
- aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile troops;
- electronic warfare units;
- mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of noon Kyiv time, 20 drones and other types of drones were confirmed to have been shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy regions.
In particular, 10 drones did not reach their targets and were lost in the area.
Another Russian drone is still in Ukrainian airspace.

Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine is accompanied by missile, artillery, and drone attacks. Russian terrorist efforts are targeting not only military facilities but also civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, schools, hospitals, energy, and transportation networks.
Another attempt to attack took place this morning when Russia launched drones at Kyiv. After the air defense system responded, Russian drone wreckage was found in 4 districts of Kyiv.
