On the night of February 17, the Russian occupiers launched 147 drones at Ukraine. Aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was involved in repelling the Russian attack.

Russian drones were launched from the directions of the Russian cities of Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare units mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the Russian attack

As of 9 a.m. Kyiv time, 83 Shahed and other types of Russian drones were confirmed to have been shot down in Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and many other regions.

In addition, 59 Russian drones were lost locally without negative consequences.

Kharkiv, Kyiv, Poltava, and Zaporizhzhia regions suffered from Russian attacks overnight.

Russian strikes on Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian objects have become regular. Russia has used a variety of weapons, including missile strikes, aircraft bombs, artillery shelling, and kamikaze drones, in particular, to destroy infrastructure, energy facilities, hospitals, and schools.

On the night of February 16, Russians launched 143 drones against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down 95 of them.
