On the night of May 14, Russian troops carried out a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, starting at 7:30 p.m. Kyiv time on May 13, Russia attacked Ukraine from different directions, using an Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile from Crimea and 145 Shahed-type attack UAVs.

In addition, Russia used various types of imitator drones launched from Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The air attack was repelled by units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.

How air defense system worked

Reportedly, as of 9 a.m. Kyiv time on May 14, 80 Russian Shahed-type UAVs and other attack drones were confirmed to have been shot down.

In addition, 42 imitator drones were lost locally, which did not lead to negative consequences for Ukrainian territories.

Several regions of Ukraine, including Sumy, Kharkiv, Odesa, Donetsk, and Kirovohrad regions, were affected by the Russian attacks.

Russia's attack on Ukraine

On the night of May 13, the Russians launched only 10 drones, although the number of drones during nighttime strikes usually reaches hundreds and sometimes exceeds this mark.

In addition, on the morning of May 14, a series of explosions occurred in Kropyvnytskyi. Russian attack drones were spotted in the region.
