Russia strikes private sports complex, not military site: Air Force sets record straight

A Russian ballistic missile struck a private sports complex in the Kyiv region, not a Ukrainian military training ground, according to Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat, Novyny.LIVE and Ruslan Oliinyk, acting head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
"This is not a training ground. It is a private sports complex and has nothing to do with the military," Ihnat stressed.
He added that law enforcement authorities must now assess the actions of the event organizers.
Oliinyk said that efforts to deal with the aftermath of the ballistic strike on the Kyiv region are ongoing, with all emergency services working at the scene.
"As a result of the strike, 27 private homes and 44 vehicles were damaged in Bucha district. Information about the number of people killed and injured is still being уточнено," his statement said.
He added that all those affected are receiving the necessary medical care.
What happened
Earlier today, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on the Kyiv region. Bucha district suffered the most extensive damage.
The attack killed and injured people. Preliminary reports indicate that 10 people were killed and around 100 sustained injuries of varying severity.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko said law enforcement authorities had opened two criminal proceedings.
One concerns war crimes under Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code. The other was opened under Part 3 of Article 367 over possible improper performance of official duties in organizing and holding the event, which may have led to deaths and other serious consequences.
