Russia's ballistic strike on Kyiv region: 10 killed, around 100 injured and two probes

On the afternoon of July 24, Russia struck a private training ground in the Kyiv region where representatives of Ukraine's defense industry were present. As of now, 10 people are confirmed dead and around 100 injured.

Strike on the training ground
Earlier today, Russia attacked Kyiv and the surrounding region with ballistic missiles. According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russian forces launched three ballistic missiles, one of which was intercepted.
"A strike occurred. Ballistic missiles... Today, the strikes were carried out during the daytime rather than at night. Two Oniks [missiles targeting the south, ed.] and three ballistic missiles as of now. There was also information about 10 missiles in Telegram channels. We have three missiles, one of which was intercepted by air defenses. Unfortunately, the other two were not, and two impacts were recorded in Kyiv region," Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, said during a national telethon.
It was later reported that the strike hit a site where representatives of Ukraine's defense industry were present.
According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the strike hit "the grounds of a private training facility where an event was taking place." The information is currently being thoroughly verified.
What is known about the casualties
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was the first to report the consequences of the attack, saying that six people had been killed and dozens injured.
Later, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko said the death toll had risen.

Criminal investigation
According to the prosecutor general, criminal proceedings have been opened over Russia's war crime under Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.
"At the same time, criminal proceedings have been launched under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine over possible improper performance of official duties in organizing and holding the event, which resulted in deaths and other serious consequences... The investigation will establish who made the decision to hold the event, who approved its location, timing and format, what security measures were provided, and whether the risks were properly assessed under martial law," he added.
