Russia strikes nearly 100 drones and missiles at Ukraine shead of Easter: Air defense works

On the eve of Easter, on Holy Saturday, April 19, Russia attacked Ukraine with 95 drones and missiles. Air defense forces shot down less than half of the drones, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"During the night of April 19, 2025 (from 9:00 p.m. Kyiv time on April 18), the Russian occupiers carried out a strike on Ukraine with ground- and air-launched missiles and attack UAVs," the statement says.
How many drones and missiles Russia launches at Ukraine
According to preliminary data, the Radio-Technical Troops of the Ukrainian Air Force detected and tracked 95 enemy air targets - 8 missiles of various types and 87 attack UAVs (including decoy drones of other types), namely:
- 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launch area - Crimea);
- 2 Oniks anti-ship missiles (launch area - Crimea);
- 3 Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles;
- 87 attack UAVs of the Shahed type and decoy drones of other types (launch areas - Millerovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Hvardiiske).
How air defense responds
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine countered the enemy's air attack.
"As of 09:00 a.m., the downing of 33 Shahed UAVs (and other types of drones) over the east, north, and south of the country has been confirmed," the military stated.
In addition, 36 enemy decoy drones were lost locally.
Consequences of Russia's combined attack on Ukraine
Due to enemy attack, the Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions were affected.
In particular, during the night and early morning of April 19, the Russians attacked the Zaporizhzhia region with Shahed UAVs. In Zaporizhzhia, a fire broke out on the premises of an automobile enterprise due to the shelling.
Furthermore, fires broke out in the Odesa region as a result of the attack, which firefighters have already extinguished. Civilian objects were hit.
