On the night of June 4, Russian forces launched a missile and drone attack on Kharkiv. Strikes were recorded in the city, and at least one person was injured, according to the Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, and Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

As a result of a strike on the city, one person was injured in the Novobavarskyi district, Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote, having previously reported missile strikes in the same area.

Moments later, Oleh Syniehubov confirmed the information and clarified that the injured person is a 30-year-old man.

"As of now, one person has sought medical help following an enemy strike in the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the 30-year-old man," the statement reads.

Terekhov later reported a Shahed drone strike near apartment buildings and in the private housing sector of the Novobavarskyi district.

At 03:23 AM Kyiv time, the Russian attack continued.

"A private house caught fire in the Novobavarskyi district due to a UAV strike. Information about possible casualties is being clarified," Syniehubov stated at 03:31 AM Kyiv time.

"Following multiple drone strikes on Kharkiv, large-scale fires broke out in industrial areas. A private house is also burning," Terekhov reported at 04:02 Kyiv time, adding that emergency services are working at the sites.

At 04:30 AM Kyiv time, according to Terekhov, preliminary data show that Russia launched 10 drone strikes on Kharkiv, mostly targeting the Novobavarskyi district. One UAV did not detonate and will be handled by explosives experts.

Syniehubov detailed the consequences of the attack:

  • A fire broke out at a civilian enterprise due to missile strikes; a one-story industrial building was damaged. A 30-year-old man was injured.

  • A private house caught fire due to a drone strike, covering an area of 100 square meters.

  • An auto repair shop caught fire, covering 200 square meters.

"Relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences," he added.

At 04:36 AM Kyiv time, Terekhov reported that, according to the Situational Center, Russia used 9 Shahed drones and 2 missiles (type to be confirmed) in the attack on Kharkiv.

"Fires broke out at four locations in industrial zones, as well as at a private house. Currently, one person is known to be injured in the Novobavarskyi district. Emergency services and volunteers are working at the impact sites," he said.

Kharkiv attacks and beyond

Earlier that night, Russian forces hit a postal terminal in the suburbs of Kharkiv, sparking a massive blaze involving two warehouse buildings and containers, covering 3,000 square meters.

In addition, Russia targeted a civilian enterprise in Balakliia, Kharkiv region. In the morning, it was reported that one person was killed and another injured.
