Russia strikes German-owned Kromberg & Schubert plant in Zhytomyr region

Russian forces launched a massive attack on Zhytomyr region. The strike damaged Kromberg & Schubert Zhytomyr, a civilian company with 100% German investment, according to Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration Head Vitaliy Bunechko and an official statement from the company.
What is known about the damage
According to the company, its production facilities and infrastructure sustained significant damage and extensive destruction over the past 24 hours.
Kromberg & Schubert Zhytomyr has operated in the region for 11 years. The company is fully backed by German investment and employs around 3,500 people.
The company stressed that none of its employees were injured in the attack.
Due to the extensive damage, the company has been forced to temporarily suspend operations indefinitely. It is currently unknown when production will resume.
The potential timeline for restoring operations will be determined after a technical assessment is completed and the full scope of the required work is established.
What the Zhytomyr regional administration says
According to Vitaliy Bunechko, emergency crews from the State Emergency Service contained the aftermath of the attack. An investigative team from law enforcement agencies is also working at the site.
The regional administration, together with local authorities, is already looking for ways to support the strategic investor.
Regional authorities are interested in keeping the company operational, supporting its workforce and creating conditions for the fastest possible recovery.
Russian strikes have previously destroyed major warehouses and production facilities belonging to Ukrainian and international companies.
In particular, a Russian attack on the night of August 5 destroyed a finished-goods warehouse belonging to Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in Kyiv region. The company said none of its employees were injured.
In addition, Russia destroyed the warehouse and office of Delta Plus Ukraine, which was the largest personal protective equipment warehouse in Ukraine. The company said it had lost property and stock accumulated over many years. It is currently unknown when the company will be able to resume operations.
