Russia strikes critical infrastructure in Volyn region

On Christmas evening, a strike on a critical infrastructure facility was recorded in one of Ukraine’s western regions. The attack occurred during an air raid alert, and emergency services immediately responded to the scene, according to a post by the head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Ivan Rudnytskyi.
On Thursday, December 25, Russian forces struck a critical infrastructure facility in Ukraine’s Volyn region. The attack occurred in the evening while an air raid alert was in effect, regional authorities confirmed.
Strike on critical infrastructure
The attack targeted a facility of key importance to the region’s functioning and is viewed as another act of pressure on civilian infrastructure.
Details of the damage are being clarified. Specialized services are surveying the area and assessing the consequences.
Impact and regional situation
According to official information, there were no civilian casualties. All emergency and specialized services were promptly deployed and continue working at the scene. The situation in the region remains under control, and there is no threat to civilians.
"During the air raid alert, Russia attacked a critical infrastructure facility in our region," said Ivan Rudnytskyi.
Such incidents are relatively rare in western Ukraine. Russian forces more frequently target central and southern regions, as well as the capital and surrounding areas.
Earlier on December 25, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the Zaporizhzhia district using guided aerial bombs, injuring civilians. Regional authorities said four guided bombs were dropped, damaging private homes. Four elderly people, three women and one man, were wounded and are receiving medical care.
In Kyiv, a 48-year-old woman who was injured during a Russian drone attack on December 23 died in the hospital. According to city prosecutors, she sustained severe shrapnel wounds to the head in the Sviatoshynskyi district and was hospitalized in critical condition, but doctors were unable to save her.
