Russia steps up inspections in occupied territories, looking for certain individuals

The Russian authorities have stepped up filtration measures in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, according to the National Resistance Center on Telegram.
Checks have sharply intensified in these areas.
Now, so-called filtration measures are being carried out not only at checkpoints but also at workplaces.
“Communal services have been instructed to look for those who have not obtained Russian citizenship. People without a Russian passport face deportation, property confiscation, or blocked payments. The goal is clear - to expel the ‘undesirables’ and leave only the loyal,” the National Resistance Center reported.
The Center urges Ukrainian citizens to document cases of persecution and submit them via an anonymous chatbot.
“Every instance of filtration is evidence of the Kremlin’s repressive policies, which will be subject to legal prosecution after liberation,” the National Resistance Center stressed.
Increased control over Ukrainians in the occupied territories
As reported, in March 2024, the Russian president signed a decree requiring Ukrainian citizens illegally staying in Russia to either leave the country or legalize their stay by September 10.
Since the beginning of the occupation, the lack of a Russian passport has already limited access to healthcare, social benefits, and official employment.
Additionally, since early January, a registry of controlled individuals has been operating in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories. Ukrainians who have not obtained Russian passports are being added to it by the Russians.
