Polish fighter jets intercepted another Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft, according to Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Twitter (X).

Poland intercepts Russian aircraft

According to the minister, the latest Russian provocation occurred on the morning of August 4.

A pair of Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian aircraft 56 kilometers northwest of Koszalin in Poland's West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

"Russia is once again engaging in provocative actions near NATO borders, testing the vigilance and readiness of the Alliance's defense systems," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Russia's provocations near Poland

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea on August 3. The aircraft was flying with its transponder switched off.

In addition, on July 31, a Russian Il-20 electronic intelligence aircraft flew over the Baltic Sea without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off.

Two Russian Su-30SM2 fighter jets also approached the area of Polish air defense exercises on July 15.

On July 14, a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft approached Polish airspace over the Baltic Sea, prompting the rapid scramble of a pair of Polish fighter jets to intercept it.
