Russia spent over $167 billion on war against Ukraine - Forbes
Russia has spent approximately $167.3 billion on the war during 18 months of full-scale invasion in Ukraine, according to Forbes.
The Kremlin is spending approximately $300 million per day on the war with Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia's budget has exceeded its planned spending for the entire year in just the first half of 2023.
Despite this, Russia is doubling its military budget, and the upkeep of Russian soldiers is becoming increasingly strained.
Direct military expenditures and the cost of lost equipment for Russia over 18 months of war (from February 24, 2022, to August 24, 2023) amount to approximately $167.3 billion, according to Forbes estimates based on data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This estimate does not include ongoing defense expenditures unrelated to military operations, as well as the economic losses incurred by the aggressor country.
Among the largest categories of expenditure are: support for military operations ($51.3 billion), military personnel salaries ($35.1 billion), compensation to the families of the deceased ($25.6 billion) and wounded ($21 billion), and the cost of destroyed equipment ($34 billion).
War is becoming more expensive
Earlier, Reuters reported that Russia's defense expenditures increased by 282% compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, British intelligence previously noted that Russia is attempting to conceal its defense spending, but the cost of the war is becoming increasingly expensive for Moscow.
