Russia continues to try to unfreeze its assets in Europe, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Brussels has the situation under control.
The president said he understood that the threat of Russia unfreezing its assets was real and could not be ignored.
Nevertheless, European Union countries would continue doing everything possible to prevent this.
Zelenskyy also responded to media reports that the United States had allegedly proposed that EU countries unfreeze some of Russia's assets in an attempt to revive peace talks.
The head of state believes European allies understand Moscow's true intentions and will not let the Kremlin implement its new plan.
"We discussed the details with the Europeans. This is now entirely under Europe's control, which means it is safe for the time being," Zelenskyy stressed.
As reported a few days ago, US President Donald Trump's team had proposed that European countries unfreeze some of Russia's assets.
American officials claim that the move could help revive peace talks.
The White House has proposed transferring the funds under Washington's control.
Earlier, the media reported on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's response to the idea.
