Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 5: +1,260 troops and 65 artillery systems

Russia's battlefield losses continue to mount as Ukrainian forces target Russian troops and military equipment across the front. Ukraine's Defense Ministry has released updated figures showing another 24 hours of significant Russian losses, including personnel, artillery, air defense systems, armored vehicles, and drones.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 5, 2026, are estimated to be:

- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,273 (+1)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,644 (+8)

- MLRS ‒ 2,093 (+5)

Frontline situation
Ukrainian forces have confirmed that two major Russian oil facilities — the LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Kstovo and the NOVATEK-Ust-Luga complex — have halted operations following strikes. Ukrainian troops also struck Russian military facilities, including a drone storage and launch site in occupied Donetsk, a command post in Fedorivka, and a command-and-observation post in Petrivka.
