Over the past 24 hours, on October 8, Russian forces have suffered the loss of 1,150 soldiers, 11 armored combat vehicles, and 55 pieces of automotive equipment, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 9, 2024, are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: around 664,120 (+1,150) eliminated;
  • Tanks: 8,944 (+4) units;
  • Troop-carrying AFVs: 17,751 (+11) units;
  • Artillery systems: 19,222 (+19) units;
  • MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems): 1,223 units;
  • Anti-aircraft systems: 973 units;
  • Aircraft: 369 units;
  • Helicopters: 328 units;
  • UAVs operational-tactical level: 16,718 (+31) units;
  • Cruise missiles: 2,618 units;
  • Warships/boats: 28 units;
  • Submarines: 1 unit;
  • Vehicles and fuel tanks: 26,240 (+55) units;
  • Special equipment: 3,385 (+12) units.

The General Staff also said that due to the constant influx of updated intelligence data, some figures regarding enemy losses, particularly concerning UAVs and aircraft, have needed to be adjusted. The total number has been corrected, while the daily losses are reported in the usual manner.

Frontline situation and shelling of Ukraine

The situation on the front remains challenging.

According to the General Staff, in September alone, Russian forces used chemical weapons against Ukrainian Defense Forces 250 times.

During the night of October 9, Russian forces attacked Ukraine using Shahed drones again.

Meanwhile, in the Bryansk region, kamikaze drones struck a large ammunition depot, causing a fire and explosions at the site of the impact.
