Russia's losses in Ukraine as of October 8: +1,340 troops, 47 artillery systems

Over the last day, from October 7 to 8, Russia lost 1,340 soldiers, an air defense system, and 43 unmanned aerial vehicles at the front, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to October 8, 2024, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 662,970 (+1340) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 8940 (+7);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 17,740 (+30);
- artillery systems - 19,203 (+47);
- MLRS - 1223;
- anti-aircraft systems - 973 (+1);
- aircraft - 368;
- helicopters - 328;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 16,686 (+43);
- cruise missiles - 2618 (+3);
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 26,185 (+83);
- special equipment - 3,373 (+9).
Situation at front and Russian shelling
According to ISW, the Ukrainian Armed Forces succeeded in the Kursk region, but Russian invaders advanced in 3 areas in eastern and southern Ukraine.
At night, Russian terrorists once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type attack drones. Explosions were heard in Odesa and Odesa region due to air defense.
Also, around midnight, Russia shelled Sumy with guided aerial bombs.
