Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of Thursday, October 12, amounted to 990 occupiers, with the total number of casualties in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion reaching 284,890 military personnel. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 118 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery systems, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to October 12, 2023 are estimated as follows:
- Personnel: Approximately 284,890 (+990) individuals eliminated
- Tanks: 4,905 (+42) units
- Armored fighting vehicles: 9,264 (+44) units
- Artillery systems: 6,763 (+32) units
- Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 811 (+2) units
- Anti-aircraft missile systems: 545 units
- Aircraft: 316 units
- Helicopters: 316 units
- Tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): 5,247 (+21) units
- Cruise missiles: 1,531 (+1) units
- Ships/boats: 20 units
- Submarines: 1 unit
- Motor vehicles and tankers: 9,170 (+25) units
- Special equipment: 966 (+1) units.
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff's data, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to maintain defense in the east and south of Ukraine while advancing in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions, consolidating their positions on established front lines. In particular, as reported by the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have continued counter-offensive operations near Bakhmut and in the western part of the Zaporizhzhia region, making progress on both fronts.
