Ukrainian defense forces eliminated another 970 Russian occupiers over the past 24 hours, bringing the total casualties of the Russian army personnel since the beginning of the full-scale war to approximately 477,430 soldiers. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 13 enemy tanks, 19 armored fighting vehicles, and 30 artillery systems, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to May 8, 2024 are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: approximately 477,430 (+970) individuals;
  • Tanks: 7,418 (+13) units;
  • APV (Armored personnel vehicles): 14,246 (+19) units;
  • Artillery systems: 12,317 (+30) units;
  • MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 1,057 units;
  • Anti aircraft warfare systems: 792 units;
  • Aircraft: 349 units;
  • Helicopters: 325 units;
  • UAV operational-tactical level: 9,728 (+11) units;
  • Cruise missiles: 2,151 (+2) units;
  • Warships/boats: 26 units;
  • Submarines: 1 unit;
  • Vehicles and fuel tankers: 16,549 (+40) units;
  • Special equipment: 2,019 (+2) units.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported in the morning summary that there were 84 combat engagements on the front line during the past day. The hottest spot was in the Avdiivka direction, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 27 Russian attacks.
