Ukraine's Defense Forces have eliminated 1,100 Russian military personnel in one day, as well as destroyed 13 tanks, 32 AFVs, 36 artillery systems, and one MLRS, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to May 16, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • military personnel - about 971,690 (+1,100) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 10,825 (+13);
  • troop-carrying AFVs - 22,546 (+32);
  • artillery systems - 27,908 (+36);
  • MLRS - 1,385 (+1);
  • anti-aircraft systems - 1,167 (+1);
  • aircraft - 372;
  • helicopters - 335;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 36,123 (+123);
  • cruise missiles - 3,197;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 48,713 (+166);
  • special equipment - 3,892.

Situation on frontline

In the evening update on May 15, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that 117 combat clashes had already taken place on the front since the beginning of the day.

According to Ukraine's Defense Forces, the Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest in terms of the number of Russian assaults and attacks.

Furthermore, the May 16 report published by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which included updated battle maps, revealed that Ukrainian defenders have recently advanced in the Toretsk area. Meanwhile, Russian forces are reported to have succeeded near Lyman, Novopavlivka, and Velyka Novosilka.
