The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has updated data on enemy losses as of March 23, 2025. Russian personnel losses exceed 1,400, with hundreds of units of equipment destroyed, including tanks, artillery, and aircraft, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to March 23, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 903,480 (+1,470) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 10,412 (+9);
  • troop-carrying AFVs - 21,636 (+27);
  • artillery systems - 25,048 (+104);
  • MLRS - 1,333 (+6);
  • anti-aircraft systems - 1,116 (+5);
  • aircraft - 370;
  • helicopters - 331 units;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 30,495 (+157);
  • cruise missiles - 3,121;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 41,610 (+185);
  • special equipment - 3,784 (+2).

Frontline situation and Russian shelling

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced in the Belgorod region, while Russian forces continue to press in the Sumy and Donetsk regions.

On the evening prior, Russian aviation struck the border areas of the Sumy region, causing a large-scale fire and destroying several homes.

Additionally, Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region overnight. Several districts reported damaged houses, a car, and two people injured.
